Liverpool City Region Apprenticeship Hub Charter

  The Liverpool City Region (LCR) Apprenticeship Hub is a collaborative group, responsible to the LCR Employment and Skills Board. The Hub aims to increase the awareness of, the number of and the quality of apprenticeships available to residents of the region by supporting and co-ordinating apprenticeship activities to make Apprenticeships Work for businesses and young people.   The Apprenticeship Hub will:
  • promote apprenticeships as a progression route to young people and their parents;
  • provide apprenticeship careers advice and guidance for schools and young people;
  • encourage more employers across the LCR to offer apprenticeships; and
  • celebrate the successes of LCR apprentices and their employers.
  It will do this by:   Establishing a Single Point of Contact (SPoC) for apprenticeship enquiries though a telephone enquiry line and website that will:
  • provide schools, academies and colleges with careers advice,and guidance materials and support in delivering apprenticeship careers advice;
  • provide young people with apprenticeship careers advice and guidance;
  • provide advice and support to employers interested in offering apprenticeships; and
  • provide a comprehensive signposting service for all apprentice related enquiries.
  Promoting apprenticeships to young people:
  • directly to young people and their parents across the Liverpool City Region;
  • through schools and colleges as a progression route for 16-19 year olds;
  • as a great way to start a career;
  • with partners to increase the number of City Region residents applying for apprenticeships; and
  • by providing a range of resources to support young people’s apprenticeship interviews.
  Promoting apprenticeships to employers:
  • through events and marketing and via the network of Hub partners across the City Region;
  • by highlighting how easy it is to recruit an apprentice
  • by supporting them to develop an apprenticeship programme that delivers real economic benefits to their business;
  • by linking employers to the National Apprenticeship Services Small Business Team, to receive support on selecting the most appropriate apprenticeship framework for their apprentices and their business needs and to be matched to the most appropriate local apprenticeship provider/college to meet their requirements; and
  • By driving up the number of available apprenticeship vacancies offered by employers in the City Region.
  Working with Apprenticeship Hub partners to:
  • promote apprenticeships to young people and their parents in the City Region;
  • signpost young people to the Hub’s support resources;
  • offer impartial advice and guidance to learners in schools/colleges; and
  • promote the successes of our local apprentices.
