Case Study: Anthony
Anthony Prowse, 18, is a bright and ambitious student with high aims. He left college after studying a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Engineering at Cronton Sixth Form. After leaving, he wanted to gain some work experience in the field he was interested in, whilst gaining his qualifications as well.
Throughout college he’d also been working part time at Liverpool Football Club. As a dedicated and hardworking individual, he knew he needed to be challenged and enjoy the work he was doing.
2D Diagrams and 3D Modelling
Now, Anthony works at Steven A Hunt & Associates as a Junior CAD Operator, whilst studying at St Helens College. He main responsibility is creating electrical and mechanical 2D diagrams in AutoCAD. He is also teaching himself to use 3D modelling software, under the guidance of senior staff members.
Anthony’s mentor says he’s made a lot of progress in the past 11 months he has been working as a Junior CAD Operator, his passion for the role and his attention to detail have been particular highlights.
Valuable Work Experience
Anthony would recommend an apprenticeship to anyone, as it gives you the opportunity to learn about the industry you have an interest in, gain valuable work experience and continue learning. He also really values being paid for the role, as he’s able to live more independently and start learning valuable life lessons about money management.
Junior to Senior
Looking forward, Anthony aims to continue in his career in CAD Design and ideally, he would want to stay at the company after he has completed his apprenticeship so he can work his way up from a Junior CAD Operator to a Senior CAD Operator.
